[ Dec.2013 ] We visited Kawagoe Festival Museum in Kawagoe in Saitama prefecture in Japan.
I did not know at all, but this is a spectacular festival held at the third weekend in every October and 29 floats of 8 metres high, representing each town will go around the town.
The floats are flexible so that they can go under a gate of a castle.
On top of each float there is a life-size historical figure, like Ushiwakamaru ( famous samurai ) or Shogun Ieyasu and so on, which was chosen by the people of the each town.
In the museum there was one float which is not complete.
This one was started being made with the money of a rich man, but before completing it, he died.
According to the person in charge in the museum, they need 80 million yen (about 563000 euros, 470000 pounds or 769000 USdollers) more to complete it.
He said to me ” How about donating 80 million yen? The figure on top will be you” .
I said ” Humm it is tempting, I will think about it” and left the museum.
