Dizzying beauty

Dizzying beauty

[Nov. 2024] On a sunny public holiday, we felt like going out for a bit, so we went to Trezzo sull’Adda, which is not far from our home in northern Italy.

It’s a town on the Adda River, and we’d been there once a long time ago to see the castle.

The reason why we chose here this time is because there’s a backstory.

On the way back from the Doge’s Palace in Mantua with a couple of friends who came to visit in October, we got stuck in traffic and were hungry.

So we left the motorway and went to a restaurant in Trezzo sull’Adda that happened to be there.

We went down a pitch-black road where you wouldn’t expect to find a restaurant, and at the end of the road we found a restaurant called Al Molo Sull Adda, which was quite good.

It’s on the edge of the river, and we found out that a boat moored on the river was also a bistro run by the same company, so we talked about going there once.

So, our destination this time was the boat bistro, Al Corbara.

the beauty made me dizzy

That was a big hit.

The food was good, but the environment was the best.

In October, it was dark and we could hardly see the surroundings, but this time, it was lunchtime, so we could enjoy the view.

I wasn’t expecting it at all, but the surrounding nature was reflected in the Adda River, like a dream world.

The whole place was enveloped in yellowish autumn colours, and it was truly fantastic.

As I walked along the river and stared at the reflections, I lost my sense of perspective and got dizzy.

I felt like I was being sucked into the river.

It was really such a powerful landscape.

If you take a photo with boats, canoes, fishermen, birds, etc., it will surely be a great photo.

But unfortunately, I didn’t expect to see such a wonderful view this time, so I didn’t bring my camera.

I took many photos with my phone, but the zoom still didn’t work well.

It was a real shame…

The bistro was also very good.

We were glad we made a reservation.

Slowly, all the tables, which were not that many, filled up, and they were all people with reservations.

The only staff on the boat were a female cook and a male waiter, and they were both very busy.

Even so, we didn’t have to wait long and they were well organised.

For the starter, we had bruschetta.

It was topped with anchovies and a soft cheese called stracciatella, and the two went perfectly together.

For my main course, I had duck tagliata.

It was served with a gravy-like sauce, and the duck flavour really came through and it was delicious.

My husband had seared tuna tataki with warm vegetables.

This tataki did not come with any sauce, and was simply eaten with salt.

He said it was delicious.

For drinks, for some reason, we each had two glasses of Prosecco.

This and coffee were added, and the total came to about €75, which was very reasonable.

All in all, it was a very satisfying autumn excursion.
