[ May 2013 ] At Marienplatz, the main square in the centre of Munich, they were holding some kind of fair and on the stage people were dancing their folk dances.
The costume around here is very pretty.
For men, they wear Lederhosen, the famous leather half trousers and women wear big long skirt with bright check patterns and white blouse.
The dance is exactly like the folk dances we learned at school long time ago.
I wonder the Japanese educational authority has borrowed the Bavarian dances for their dance programme.
This costume, particularly the men’s are as unique as Scottish kilt.
I saw quite a few men wearing this Lederhosen during my holiday.
It seems that Bavarian people wear them as much as Scottish people wear kilts.
Long long time ago, there was a Japanese fashion brand called Pink House ( I just checked websites and realised that it is still existing).
Its designer, Isao Kaneko’s wife was a model with German blood and because of that, Kaneko was keen on German style one time.
I used to have a suede jacket with Bavarian style and a skirt which was a bit like the Lederhosen.
