[Aug.2009] From Rethymno where we based in Crete, we visited Chania which is west of Rethymno, about one hour away by bus.
According to my guidebook, it is the most beautiful town in Crete, and good shopping seemed promising, so I expected a lot there, but I remember it was a bit disappointing.
Too many tourists may have spoiled its original beauty.
But the seafood I had in a small canteen facing the sea was wonderful, especially the dish full of sea urchin! Also, what I remember there was that I saw people kissing one icon one after another in a Greek Orthodox church.
I wondered if it was ok in hygienic point of view.
