[ Sept.2015 ] My favourite pavilion in the EXPO in Milan was Chilian.
Chile is a long country from north to south and they showed the diversity of their production and culture very well.
The staff there were very nice and friendly, too.
Until then, we did not consider this country very much, but now we have added it to our list of places we want to visit.
The Moroccan pavilion was also lovely and stylish.
The shop at the end was attractive, too.
In the pavilion of Azerbaijan, we learned the power of oil.
We saw a video introducing their capital, Baku, which looked like an extremely modern big city and that is totally different from what I imagined.
I had imagined that it was like one of those middle eastern town where there are many carpet shops.
I suppose these pavilions are chance for the designers to show their ability.
There were pavilions of small countries, which had just one room to show their products.
The unusual one was the Austrian pavilion.
There was no building, but visitors walked through a forest.
This photo is the UK pavilion.
It was a large beehive.
Apparently, it was linked to an actual beehive in the UK and the lights went on and off according to the real bees’ movement.
Also, there were devices where people can experience bees’ communication.
It was very well made and quite popular, but in the UK, this EXPO was not publicised much.
I wonder why…
That reminds me that there were no pavilions from north Europe, such as Sweden or Norway.
Altogether, there were 145 countries participating here, including small African ones.
Maybe because northern European countries do not have any particular food culture to show?
