[ July, 2014 ] We went to Zadar in Croatia for this year’s summer holiday.
This historical town is situated a little north of the middle of the country’s long seafront.
There are some Roman relics in the town and it was under Republic of Venice in the Middle Age.
After that, it changed hands between Austria and Italy a couple of times, but until after WW2 when it officially became a part of Yugoslavia, it belonged to Italy, so the atmosphere of the town was very Italian.
According to the person of the accommodation, they used to speak Italian of Veneto area, the north part of Italy and even now, their dialect is a bit like Italian.
He seemed happy saying that there have been always many tourists from Italy and Germany, but because recently the low cost airlines started flying here, the numbers and variety of tourists increased.
