[ May, 2014 ] Basque in Spain is famous for its independence movement.
I visited this place for the first time and realised a lot of things are quite different from the other parts of Spain.
From the first, the view from the aeroplane was different.
When we arrived in Madrid in March, the ground was very dry and very bright, but this time the view was very green.
The green ground means a lot of rain.
That evening we arrived it was raining and later, too, we had rain.
A taxi driver told us ” even in the middle of summer we aften have rain”.
Not only the climate, but other things such as that the buses run punctually and that the towns looked neat and tidy are different from the south.
On the first day, we arrived at the hotel in Bilbao quite late and asked for some restaurant.
The person in the hotel said “it is a bit late, but there is one across the bridge, which opens later than others until around 12”.
I thought Spanish people started eating around 10pm, but maybe not here.
This is another difference, too.
