[ Jun.2016 ] After lunch in the pretty town of Asolo in Veneto, Italy, we went into a brand-new liquor shop. Our purpose was to get some bottles of local Prosecco. After tasting various Proseccos, we asked them to send a dozen back to London. The shop assistant did not know the details of sending cost and so on, so we agreed that he would let us know by email later. Exactly the same thing happened recently in Slovakia and we did not hear from them in the end, so I was wondering if it would work this time. One thing I noticed by trying a few kinds of local Prosecco is that the local ones were drier than the ones we drink at home in London.
Asolo is on a hill and on top of the town there is a fortress from the 12th century. We knew that it was closed on the day, but to see the view like this in this photo we went up the long slope. It was a good exercise after the big lunch. Seeing the nice view and satisfied, we came down to the town centre for some shopping, but the shops which were supposed to open at 3pm after lunch break were still closed. The reason was the football match. The people were gathered in the pilotis and watching the match. While waiting for the match to finish, we went in to a cafe and had a glass of strawberry Prosecco for the first time. It was not only nice to look at, but really nice and refreshing. At last the shops opened and we did some shopping, then left this lovely town.
By the way, the liquor shop wrote to us and we had the bottles of Prosecco sent over safely. The name of the shop was Al Moretto and in its business card it says “Save Water, Drink Wine”. I like that, so we will order more bottles from them again.
