[ June, 2014 ] This is a photo of a historical hydroelectric power station in Trezzo sull’Adda, not far from Milan.
This station is called Moretti after the architect.
They started building it in 1904 and completed two years later.
It was built in order to supply electricity to the nearby cotton textile factory.
They were having a festival on that day we visited, so luckly we could enter the building which usually closed to public, by joining the tour.
Half of the building used to be a thermal power station, but now it is not needed, so they were preparing for a concert of that evening there.
The other part is still generating hydroelectricity and run by the leading Italian power company, ENEL.
The original owner was the cotton factory owner.
He took care of workers comfort so they made a lot of windows for the air compared with other power stations in those days.
Although it is a power station, we could see Art Nouveau decorations, which was nice.
